Kelantan's Norzilawati also smashed a seven-year-old meet record, one of five registered yesterday to bring the total records rewritten or equalled this week ahead of the final day at the Utama Stadium today to 13.
Layalia Rameli of Terengganu added the girls' Under-18 400m hurdles gold to the 400m title she won earlier as Elena Goh, Jonathan Tinggang and Grace Wong joined the list of record-breakers.
Kuala Lumpur's Elena set the tone for the day in the morning's driving rain by taking the girls' Under-18 5,000m walk in a time of 25:51.82s to erase Wan Nurul Syima's mark of 26:03.27 set 10 years ago.
Norzilawati followed up with a blistering run in the girls' Under-18 800m final as she led from start to finish and with a final 100m sprint giving her the record in 2:17.30, a good 1.17 seconds better than K. Ganthimanthi's 2005 mark.
"I'm so happy," said Norzilawati in between breathless sobs. "After failing to get the record the other day (in the 1,500m), I was even more determined to do it today.
"The weather was cool and perfect and it was reflected in my run. I felt much more relaxed."
Kedah's Wei Heng, the best sportsboy of last year's meet in Ipoh when he won a treble, also notched an 800m-1,500m double after winning the shorter distance in 1:57.41.
The win did not come easy for Wei Heng, who opted not to defend his 5,000m title, as he came from behind to overtake Perak's V. Jeevinthiran after the final bend to win by 0.17s.
"Because of the rain, I was not able to warm up properly and I was not able to clock a better time. I decided to give up the 5,000m to focus on the other two events.
"I paced myself by staying with the main bunch so that I would have enough energy left for the final sprint and it paid off nicely," said Wei Heng.
Sarawak's Jonathan cleared 1.96m in the boys' Under-15 high jump to better Poh Yu Shen's 2005 record by 0.01m while teammate Grace broke the girls' Under-12 shot put record by a massive 1.65m.
Each one of Grace's six attempts, including her best of 13.61m, shattered the meet record of 11.96m which she herself set last year.
Fatini Husna Yusop of Perak eased the heartbreak of losing the girls' Under-12 80m hurdles final after setting a meet record in the heats by taking gold in the long jump.
She saved her best for last as her 4.61m winning effort in her final jump gave her gold by 0.02m over Sarawak's Alina Naga, who was unable to respond to Fatini's challenge.
Cheah Yau Chung of Perak then equalled the boys' Under-15 200m meet record of 22.50s in winning his heat.
