The Bukit Jalil Sports School (BJSS) student had bagged the girls’ Under-15 100m gold medal on Wednesday and was eyeing the 200m and long jump golds yesterday.
At the end of a chaotic day for her, she only got a gold in the long jump and had to settle for a silver in the 200m sprint.
It all came undone when a delay in an earlier track event resulted in her 200m event clashing with the long jump final.

To make matters worse, she also had to run the 200m with her jumping spikes as she had no time to change shoes.
Kirthana finished the 200m race in second place, clocking 26.77, behind Federal Territories’ Tham Yi Yin (26.44). Terengganu’s Nur Shahira Muliadi (26.88) was third.
Kirthana then hobbled over to the long jump pit. After skipping two jumps, she finally leapt 5.16m to clinch her second gold medal.
“I’m disappointed ... I could have won the 200m gold if not for my injury,” said Kirthana.
“It’s frustrating as I also couldn’t improve my personal best of 26.00 in the 200m and 5.61m in the long jump because of my injury.
“I guess I have to get it right at next year’s MSSM, where I’ll be competing in the Under-18 category. I am looking forward to improving myself.”
